£30 million worth of luxury cars have been removed from the 51,000 tonne container ship Hoegh Osaka, after is was deliberately run aground in just outside of Southampton Docks on January 3rd 2015. Some of the cars included Bentleys that can be worth up to £240,000 each.
The first of over 1,400 vehicles have now been driven off Hoegh Osaka, which is now moored back in Southampton Docks. Some of the cars driven off, which included Land Rovers, Jaguars and a Rolls Royce Wraith, have some damage to their exteriors. With more cars still on board it is not known what the full extent of the damage is. There are some cars which are so badly damaged or just simply won't start that will be towed off the container ship.
Hoegh Autoliners have said that all of the cargo, including a combine harvester, will be removed from the ship by the end of this week or early next week.
