1000hp can usually be achieved by forced induction on a V8, but to get this power output with no forced induction is pretty good. That is more than double the power of the Bugatti Veyron’s quad turbo 16.4L 16 Cylinder heart! Sonny’s Racing Engines has built the first V8 racing engine to top 1000 cubic inches. The new SRE V8 is one serious piece with a price tag approaching $110,000

Wow - impressive piece of engineering.
Check out the pushrods - not all in a line like a conventional V8 but with completely different angles between the exhaust and intake and yet from the same cam.

Now how do i shoehorn that into the Fiero?

And the plug are between the valves rather to the side near the exhaust port. I guess its similar to a hemi engine which also has the plugs there. Nice bit of engineering as you say. We would be great to see one of these in person and hear it running. Thats 2 litres per cylinder, the LS1 or similar is only 0.7L, so this would certainly have a deep sound. Those pistons are massive.

Pistons in a 5.7l engine are around 3.9 inches diameter, thats a surface area of Pi x R^2, = 3.15*49.53^2 = 7707, then the stroke of 3.9inches, so approx 763ml per cylinder. Only rough numbers as not sure of bore and stroke without looking it up. Just wanted to get a comparison of piston size.

4.5inch dia and stroke would give you 1.1L per cylinder
5inch dia and stroke would give you 1.6L per cylinder
5.5inch dia and stroke would give you 2.14L per cylinder

So I guess the pistons must be around 5.5inches diameter.
