Here we have a great start for your hot rod, street rod, or historic race car project. This 1940 Ford is a rolling chassis and body, and comes from the U.S. already media blasted and primed, so you can see exactly what needs work and what doesn"t.
The body is complete with all wings, doors, window garnish mouldings, and grille. It needs work to the lower edges of the pillars and sub rails, and also the main floor. There is no filler in the body anywhere. Doors and wings need very minor work.
The chassis is standard, and complete with original front and rear axles and brakes, stock springs, torque tube, and steering, though there is no column and wheel fitted. The main frame needs a couple of rust repairs doing to it, but appears undamaged otherwise.
There is no engine, gearbox, interior, glass, or wiring with the car. It comes with all the paperwork to register for the road, all import duties paid, and is listed on the NOVA scheme.
This is an ideal basis for your hot rod project, being as you can see exactly what you have to start with, rather than pulling apart a seemingly complete car and finding all sorts of horrors. It does need some welding, but is certainly worth the effort, as these cars are becoming sought after now and prices are on the rise. Why spend 10k plus to buy a car that you"d be reducing to parts anyway? Save yourself the time and money, and grab yourself a bargain.
Car can be viewed by appointment in Hockwold, on the west Suffolk/Norfolk border (1 1/2 hrs drive north of London, and a similar drive from Harwich), by calling Ivor on the number listed, and more pictures are available by email if required, though I highly recommend viewing the car in person. We can possibly assist with transport too.
