1942 Chevrolet Pickup Custom <br />

A 1942 Chevrolet AK Series Pick Up Custom, registration 501 YUX, chassis number BD39653, red. Introduced in 1941, the AK series of single-cab pick-up trucks ran for 6 years before being replaced by the boxier Advance Design Series. With classic Art Deco styling featuring a striking chrome grill with vertical bars, the AK Series are often considered the prettiest of all Chevrolet`s trucks and command high values accordingly. This particular example has been restored from the chassis up and substantially modified to create an out and out Show Truck. After acquisition in 2013, I took the pick up to Sportmotive in Stoke on Trent, independent TVR Specialists with unrivalled knowledge of large V8 engines. Over an 18 month period, over 35,000 was invested with them alone the total project cost has been nearer to 55,000 to produce one of the best restored and fastest trucks in the UK, possibly in Europe. The vehicle was completely stripped of panels, chassis restored and strengthened, Jaguar suspension and rear axle installed, a new crate LS3 525 engine acquired and fitted with all ancillaries mated to a Tremec 4L70E 4-speed auto gearbox, GM power-steering and torque converter fitted, custom radiator, steering column and bespoke exhaust system installed, new wiring loom fitted and then the truck was bodily rebuilt with new oak bed, all new Lexus Crystal Red paintwork, new wheels and finished off with a complete interior re-trim in Cream leather. Just about everything on the vehicle has been replaced with either new or custom-made parts. With one of GM`s most powerful production crate engines under the hood (developed for circle-track racing), this 525bhp beast is capable of astonishing performance with the ability to cruise all-day at 100mph where permissible.
