Here we have a 1948 ward la france fire engine -tender fast response unit, or it was back in the day , even now its capable of 70-80 mph so will keep up with modern day traffic quite easily, this great piece of kit is powered by a massive 11 litre petrol engine which runs as sweet as a nut and will idle all day running cool if you want it to, starts first kick and has both magneto and coil set up, a 4 speed manual gearbox helps stir things up to get this beast moving along quite nicely, very light once moving and has had a recent full set of new tyres.
overall the truck is in superb all round shape needing nothing apart from driving, inside is basic but comfy- a recent recovered bench seat along with a purpose made soft top is fitted, runs on 12 volt so things can be added to turn this into ,a pure show , promotional, collectble piece of history.
was used in new york state by wampsville vol dept , and has inspection stickers in window showing 92-93 last inspected, we doubt it saw much action as the 6,000 geniune miles suggest little use, there is bits on internet about this engine, [ wampsville only had 600 resident back in the day so was polished more than action ]
a .new fire engine replaced this as it was possibly getting a bit long in tooth with the new style of fire engines that were available.
the pumps, gauges etc are present but untested as we dont know how to work them , but serious fun once you know how i would imagine
the siren will wake the dead, the bell operation is a string pull [ std equipment], axe ,fire extinghuishers , hoses , ladders etc are all present and look the part, really needs to be seen as its hard to describe.
