1957 Ford Customline 4 door Motor Vehicle

Actually a 1956 model. The explanation of this is that, some of these vehicles were sent to Australia unassembled to be built in Australia. This vehicle, like others, would therefore lag a year behind the USA year.
Body Type 73B 4 door sedan
There were 170,695 vehicles built of this model, but Ford did not record how many at each engine size.
The Ford Customline in question is a V.8 model and would only have been a portion of this figure.
Ford weren t preserved as they were classed as a normal car of its time. Therefore, there was little survival rate as they were not collected, just used for every day living and scrapped when of no future use.
The 1956 models saw a new era of interiors from Ford.
Ford introduced a completely new interior for these cars.
1956 also saw a turn towards concentration for safety.
The Customline model was installed with padded visors and other padded features for additional safety on impact.
The steering wheel also featured a 2 inch recessed hub, designed to lessen injury to the driver in the event of an accident.
The most significant feature added for safety was that seatbelts were offered for the first time.
The car is fitted with seatbelts.
This model is now 44 years old with a low survival rate.
This car was also unique in that it was one of the few vehicles, which were sent unassembled to Australia to be assembled there.
Therefore, the information plate on the car is constructed entirely different from the regular US built version.
