Every now and then something very very special and very very rare comes along!
This is one such time.
You wont see another in the UK!
1958 Dodge D100 half ton utility truck.
Original 230 cubic inch Flathead 6 cylinder engine with 3 on the tree column shift transmission.
12 volt electrics as standard
The truck is all original (with the exception of the colour) but what makes it special is its body. This is a factory built Utility truck as used by Bell Telecom who were the 50s predecessor of A T & T as the US telephone system is now. Basically the US version of a 50s BT truck.
It is a half ton D100 with Utility body still complete with all sliding draws, cupboards etc. The only other item it would have had was a ladder.
At some stage in its life the exterior has been painted yellow. It would have originally been Olive Green, as can still be seen inside the cab.
The body is remarkably straight and indeed very very solid. All floors, cab corners etc are 100% solid, there is a little rust on the upper front of the fenders above the headlights but that"s the only significant rust.
The chassis is rock solid too.
The interior is great, all original, all unbutchered , cab glass is good and undamaged.
The truck has not been used for quite a few years, that said she starts , runs drives and stops very well. The engine runs ok with no noises or smoke. The gears all engage as they should.
It has just had the gas tank flushed, along with fuel lines and the brakes have been made usable.
This is a straight forward simple project. Give her the usual engine service, recommissioning etc and you"re away.
Of course the truck is MOT and Road Tax exempt. That said though,of course it does need to be road legal!
Would make a great mobile fitters truck, how cool, how different. Sign write with your own details. You wont see another in the UK!
I AM SELLING THE TRUCK AS A PROJECT, IT IS NOT YET REGISTERED FOR THE UK, I DO HAVE ALL PAPERWORK TO DO SO INCLUDING ORIGINAL US TITLE AND NOVA SHOWING ALL DUTIES PAID. I CAN HELP YOU WITH REGISTERING SO YOU SHOW AS FIRST UK OWNER, IT IS VERY VERY SIMPLE!
The truck is a great piece of US history either use as is or restore it to its former glory!
All parts are available for these trucks both here in the UK and in the US.
No silly offers, no trades, finding these trucks in their original state is becoming increasingly difficult.Sourcing them and shipping them to the UK is an expensive task.
Many have been scrapped and many have been hot rodded with later engines etc.
Remember , this is a 57 year old truck. As such it will drive like one. It will not drive like your 2010 BMW.
