A 1959 Chevrolet Apache Fleetside pickup truck. Big back window, long bed....8". Been in San Jose, Southern California most of its life so pretty much rust free. I"ve been informed by a rodder in the U.S this was used for 30+ years by the last owner to tow his race car all over California. Brought to the UK 2 years ago. Very hard to find an original this straight. The bonnet and door gaps are excellent. A few small dings on the inside of the tailgate and a tiny amount of rust in the passenger door corner, but certainly nothing serious. Has a working tow bar hidden behind the number plate. Solid floors inside the cab. The original seat was well gone and has been replaced. The truck comes with a pair of full length pine bed sides. Held in with 3 bolts either side, they are simple to remove or replace. The front grille has some rust. Has a very sweet 283 ci V8 with a 2 barrel carb and rams horns. Starts on the button and runs great in all temperatures. Slight exhaust blow and the starter sticks very occasionally. Straight through exhaust exiting just over the fear axle. The inside of the bed, although straight, does have some surface rust and the wood has seen better days but still very usable. Four on the floor gearbox, a few small leaks but changes up and down smoothly. The original rear axle has air shocks and rides well. Stock front end. Drum brakes all round, stops well. 1940"S Artillery style wheels with period hub caps and rings. Wide whitewall crossplies. Wanders a little but you get used to it....or fit radials. I do have a spare set of 3/4" radials but prefer the look of crossplies. Has a Vauxhall power steering unit making it a pleasure to drive and park. All the lights work as do the electric wipers. New speedo cable fitted but the needle still jumps about. The dash wiring needs a bit of sorting out as the Amp, Fuel and Temp. gauges are not working. Passenger window needs a bit of help to wind it down. Drivers window is fine. So, a superb, very straight desirable classic that, with one or two weekends work fixing all the little niggly jobs, should bring it right up to scratch. I"ve tried to be as accurate as possible. I"m available most days for viewings.<br />
