Full HD Video and loads of images on our website. Here we have a rare example of a RIGHT-HAND DRIVE 1965 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK.
This Mustang fastback was sent to Australia in 1965 for their home market. The conversion from LHD TO RHD was completed on entering Australia by a Ford dealer as their policy is that no car can be LHD in their country.
The Mustang stayed in Australia for forty years, it is believed that it did have some racing history at some point in its life in Australia, but we do not have any written evidence of such. Although the engine a 1965 289 has certainly been improved; Big Valve Edelbrock Aluminium cylinder heads have been fitted, with a four-barrel holly carburettor, racing cam, twin point distributor and aluminium sump and inlet manifold, also brake discs, callipers and steering box have been upgraded, along with suspension all round, four-speed gearbox with Hurst gear shift, and a competition exhaust system.
Several years ago the body had a bare metal respray, we have a couple of photographs that show this. It was painted in Wimbledon white with Guardsman blue stripping and the 350GT Shelby tribute was born. Fibreglass bonnet was also purchased to keep the weight down. Some original Shelby details a have been added, rev counter binnacle, rear quarter window covers, American torque thrust alloys, Cobra rocker covers and all Shelby signage and stripping. So, we have here a fast and loud fastback Mustang 350 GT Tribute.
This Mustang has come to us from one of our clients who is reducing his collection of classic sports cars and has been known to us for several years.
As the Shelby Mustangs are now reaching well over 250,000 then this does represent good value at its price tag.
