I first saw the Movie "Vanishing Point" as a teenager in the 70"s and, apart from the naked girl riding the motorbike in the desert, that 1970 Dodge Challenger has been my boyhood dream ever since. I have never been in a position to buy one, it has to be the 1970 model and, unlike say a Mustang, a Challenger is rare beast that just keeps going up in value. So when this project car cropped up just a few miles from where I was living at the time I thought it was fate so casting caution to the wind I bought it in July 2014. Since then I have moved house twice and now the Dodge is in the corner of my workshop in Devon and I have to face the fact that I will never be able to get it done so the dream is up for sale. Be under no illusion this is a big project. It was originally a white Challenger with a vinyl roof which is why the roof is in bad shape and - in my view - will all need replacing along with the roof to boot (sorry trunk) lid panel, boot floor, front wings and lots more. The front floors, bulkhead, inner wings are all good and original white. All I have managed to do is fit a new starter motor and get the 340 engine running from a fuel can into the carb. It sounds as awesome as you would expect and I have driven the car around the yard although it has no foot brakes the hand brake works.
So that"s it. I have a bill of sale from the US as well as a NOVA document from HM customs. I have a short video of the engine running which I am happy to send on as well as any additional images.
It will be a sad sad day when it goes, I just home someone takes it on a ends up with a fantastic piece of American Muscle car history. Just don"t bring it back I couldn"t stand it!
