Here we have for sale my 1997 Chevrolet Astro Day Van.

As you can see from the pictures she is a low top (also known as a Tin Top!).

The Engine

190 horsepower, 4.3L V6 with just over 78000 miles and some recent service history which includes oil changes, filter changes, coolant flushes, belts, tensioners and idler pulley"s. She runs really sweet, breathing through a brand new Cold Air Kit and Stainless Steel cat back exhaust, custom made by Pipecraft in Basildon.

The Gearbox

4 speed automatic with recent filter and fluid change. No nasty up or down shifts - just lovely. Transmission cooler added as she has done some towing with us.

The Interior

Cloth front seats with double arm rests with a custom made rock n roll seat/bed in the back. Pull two pins and the seat converts into the bed. Separate air conditioning front and rear. Single DIN stereo fitted (please note the one in the picture is not included).

The Exterior

Custom two-tone paint featuring Pacific Blue Pearl over the original Silver. Looks fantastic and is very unique. Previous owner added blue roof lights, Euro rear lights and aftermarket wing mirrors. Boyd"s 16" Chrome rims with brand new Yokohama 235/60/16 tyres. US spec removable tow bar with electrics.

The van has been lowered using a lowering kit from Belltech. This features a flip kit for the rear axle combined with 2" drop spindles for the front and lowering coil springs giving a total drop of 3" at the front and 3.5" at the rear. The front sway bar was replaced with a Belltech sway bar significantly reducing the roll and a Belltech rear sway bar was also added. Along with the street suspension shock absorbers this Astro handles like no other and the seats are the limiting factor!!! However, it should be noted that the performance shocks are not fitted at this time as just having been towing we switched to rear air shocks and matched them to stock fronts. At the asking price for the van, the street suspension shocks are included along with stock spindles, stock coil springs and the stock front sway bar.

Full wheel alignment was done after the lowering was complete.

MOT expires 10 August 2019 and passed with flying colours with no advisories.

The bad bits

The front bumper needs respraying - the fresh paint has cracked on the top and I caught the left front corner on a kerb (doh!), but there is no actual damage to the bumper, just needs painting. The kerb graze is on the bottom of the bumper so not really seen. We have been quoted 300 to have the bumper redone. Also included but not fitted are a set of Halo/Fog lights for the front bumper.

The engine has had an oil leak at some point and is pretty dirty underneath, but it is not using any oil (engine or gear box) and power steering isn"t leaking so can only assume the cause was fixed prior to me buying the van.

The interior could do with a little bit of tidying but thats probably me just being picky!

The fuel gauge is erratic but a new pump/sender is included in the sale.
