2 Door vs 4 Door ?

Most people like 2 door cars over 4 door cars not sure this is just for the custom/rod classic american type cars? or applies to modern as well

i like an estate cars very practical so dose that make a 5 door against an hatchback?

why is there a prefferance to 2 door 4 door easier access say a supper bee roadrunner corenet or similar why do people want 2 door????
 
My little car has 4 doors, but I only use 1.
 
I think 2 door cars are viewed as more sporty. But 4 doors are definitely more practical if you ask me, especially for Karting kids about. And personally I prefer estate cars too. If you ask anyone above the relevant age to name a sporty classic British car, I'd bet that many will say the Ford Capri.
 
I make a distinction between practical every day transport and my hobby.
For practical daily transport it has to be capable of doing everything from the supermarket run to getting a knackered old washing machine in the back to take to the tip.
For my hobby, it’s 2 doors all the way. 2 doors typically have that lower roof line, coupe look, that is considered sexy. It’s the image, 4 door says married, kids, age and responsibilities. 2 door says young, free, single and maybe irresponsible!
 
i have always preferred 2 door cars. i think its just the look, but my favorite British car has 4, consul mk 2
 
My favourite British car has 4 doors - the Rover P5b Coupe
Everyone knows my favourite American cars only have 2 doors.
When Australia made cars my favourite car had 4 doors.
My favorite German/French/Jap cars don’t have any doors - I don’t like any German/French/jap cars!

rover p5b i had one, my only car for about 13 years. 8 mpg

I have loved American cars since I was a toddler but my dad used to have a P5B coupe. Great big bench seat, that deep rear number plate, the rumbling V8 and the lovely smell of leather. I have loved them ever since. Nothing else he had after had the same impact on me, the Rover P6, the Triumph TC2200, Vauxhall Victor and a series of Cortinas. The P5B trumped them all. I guess in its way it helped cement my love of V8’s.

the only picture i know i have is in a frame hanging on the wall it dates from around 1977. it is the car that got me into v8's. however it was a picture of a 59 Cadillac tailfin that
first interested me in american cars, i was about 3 or 4 at the time but it was another 10 years before i knew what that picture was
 
I would agree, 2 doors are more associated with youth and freedom, whereas 4 doors tend to be chosen out of life's necessities. An old TV ad for insurance with James Nesbit in springs to mind, where he had bought a Vette just as his wife announced she was pregnant. He called the insurance company to request a quote on a people carrier! I didn't really express a preference before except to say that 4 doors are more practical, which was probably the Dad and Grandad in me talking lol. I used the Capri as an example but aren't into them. I'd probably have to say 2 doors too though. Although, my favourite all time British classic is the Mk1 Granada saloon..even over the coupe. But not because it has 4 doors, I just prefer the roof line over that particular shape of coupe. But also because I had a manual 3.0 Consul GT at 18 (when you didn't need a lottery win to get car insurance at that age!). It was an awesome beast, I loved it!
And my favourite Yank is 77 Pontiac TA, followed very closely by a 68 Charger..both 2 door machines.
 
Yes in my youth i had various 2 door cars capris, manta,supra's but prefer now estate cars with the power and practical ability the 2 door cars didnt have proberly why the SUV has taken of and there isnt one of them i like at all, as the estate never really court on except for the boot seller antque traders of the time, but now there isn't many good estate cars around unless you want a 2nd morgage to own run them, dose seam the 2 door car is more related to the american side of things with the history of the muscle car
