One man’s vision, a salvage Camaro, and the roof from a Dodge Magnum all add up to one cool project.For the most part, station wagons still have a bit of a reputation. At least here in the U.S. When we think of them, we think of those massive, wood panel-clad monstrosities we rode around in back in the ’70s. But in places like Europe, plenty of people enjoy sporty, fast wagons as a reasonably utilitarian alternative to SUVs and trucks. Now, we aren’t so sure many Americans would go for something like a Camaro wagon. But we are certainly digging this one, which Jalopnik spotted at this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise.Much like Callaway’s Corvette Aerowagen, it’s concrete proof that some cars actually translate well into station wagons. Even though you’d never believe it otherwise. And while we’re 100% positive GM would never actually build a Camaro wagon, that won’t stop us from admiring this one. OK, so maybe we aren’t rushing to break out the saw or anything. But we know cool when we see it.And this Camaro wagon is most certainly that. That could be attributed to the owner’s personal taste, which is clearly in the right place. He describes his vision and motivation for the build over at the Camaro Owners forum. “I have always been fascinated with the creativity and vision of the late great GM designer Harley Earl. So what happens when you like a specific vehicle but think maybe the design could be a little different?”He spent loads of time cutting and pasting a variety of images and even built a toy model to figure out exactly how this Camaro wagon should look. After locating a salvaged 2010 Camaro with left rear quarter and roof damage, the build was on. The roof came from an ’05 Dodge Magnum, which made fab a whole lot easier.
