Wow. Just... wow. The 2014 Le Mans race should be immediately cancelled and rescheduled for this snow slope in Storlien, Sweden, because we've just seen this video of a Le Mans-style prototype drifting up the hill. And it's brilliant.
Capable freeskier and ski racer Jon Olsson decided to take his custom-built Rebellion R2K for a little shakedown run ahead of its participation in this year's Gumball 3000 (yeah, its road legal). And because he enjoys the snow, he decided to take it drifting, up a snowy slope.
It weighs just 1000kg. It's powered by an Audi R8 V10 engine here producing 600bhp. It sounds superb. It looks even better than it sounds.
"I first thought about the RS6," says Jon, "but we already knew that the four-wheel-drive Audis work great on snow, so we brought the 600bhp, 1000kg Rebellion with 315 wide winter tyres to see what would really happen if you brought a true supercar to the slopes."
He spoke to an F1 driver (undisclosed) and snow cat drivers to get some advice about snow driving, but of course, none of these people had ever driven a Le Mans-style prototype up a ruddy hill.
So, nerves packed unsafely away into the trunk of the €500,000 Rebellion, Jon took to the slopes and drifted away. Stop what you're doing and watch. Then imagine if Toyota, Porsche and Audi relocated the race to here...
