It"s amazing what you can find on Craigslist. You want rc cars you"ve never seen, it"s there. You want shelves for your house, you"ll find it.Want a turbocharged Chevrolet Malibu that uses a 5.3-liter truck engine? Look no further, my friends. Here is a pretty good example and expect the typical Craigslist price.
To start, it is a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu coupe. It"s probably the perfect car to find when you"re talking true sleeper status. Owner says it is a solid, no rust, California car and the pictures mostly appear to show that. What really gets this car motivated is not the original 200 cubic-inch or the 229 cubic-inch V6s or the 305 cubic-inch V8. Instead it"s had a GM Truck 5.3-liter V8 installed with a Trick Flow camshaft.
Sitting on top of the Edelbrock LS intake is a Holley E85-compatible carburetor that ignites the air/fuel mixture thanks to an MSD Ignition system. However, it"s that GT45, 80mm turbo that really gets it moving. It also features a TH350 modified with a transmission brake and a 3500 RPM stall conveter.
So, how much does all of this cost you? $12,300. Possibly more when you begin to wonder where you"ll need to get it smog tested if you keep in California, too.Really, this setup would only be legal in a 1975 or older vehicle since they do not get smogged and anything newer than that has to unless you can pay the man off. Take a look at the ad, if you"re interested, here.Tags: Drag Racing, Chevrolet, Swaps, Turbo, Malibu, craigslist, drag car, garrett, For Sale, street car, gt45 turbo, gt45
