I have heard good things about Billing. Not ever been before. Done Kelmarsh last year, I thought it was going to be bigger, perhaps it will be when it is back as Billing. Certainly one for the diary. Its in the calendar now.
Kelmarsh show was no-where near as big as most Billings.
I thought the AACI’s decision to return was based on the fact that Billing couldn’t make the changes they cancelled the shows for, so the venue was open again.
Hadn’t heard about Kelmarsh cancelling the contract and I’m not aware of any reason they would have to do that?
I have always liked Billing and will definitely be attending. If you haven’t been go!
I first attended in 1993. I remember figures bandied about of 10000 cars and 30000 people. Easy to believe as it filled 3 fields and we didn’t get around it all on the one Sunday. No where near as big these days, and I would vote the Wing n’ Wheels event as top of 2017 but it’s a very welcome return to Billing for me.
and home - photos are uploading to the NAS now. Will be on-line later.
A beautiful 72 Challenger that had some upgrades. Didn't see under the hood but modern wheels tyres, full Alpine ICE with Nav, and paddle shifters! Not sure whether the original 727 Torqueflite with upgrades or something else.
A 2015 Hellcat with over 900hp (apparently), and another beautiful Mopar too - guess which one I like!
Also a Kenworth rig thats a replica of the one used in Smokey and the Bandit.
The layout was terrible but with the usual field waterlogged after yesterdays and the overnight thunderstorms finding a new location within Billing was essential. I'd prefer the way it was laid out to cancellation....... but hopefully its back to the usual field for the Summer Nats.
Met up with quite a few familiar faces - not surprising really as this year is my 25th anniversary of the American car scene and American car ownership - I'm bound to know people everywhere!
Good day, and the weather stayed good - just a few drops on the way home. If you missed it, you missed out.
