advice on polishing stripes

I polished my car for the first time last week (not had it long lol) and I got Polish onto the stripes (I have a black car with Matt black stripes)



So how do I avoid getting a thick white line where the Polish butts up against the edge of the stripe? Any detailer out there with hints or tips please?

Trick photography is my guess.....Even my tatty 69 next to it looks good!

Wash and dry car then panel by panel spary demon shine (water base) so it picks up and dry marks from washing go over stripes buff to shine then polis with auto gleam and polish up to 1/2 inch from stripes buff to shine that's wot I do on mine leaves no white stripes simples
