Hi,
I have a 1968 chevy C10 that's in need of some re-wiring, Horn not working and not sure it does, Speedo, indicators just stopped and windscreen washer, have checked for loose wires and blown fuses but cant see anything wrong.
regards,
Andy.
At least its a nice age that the auto electrics wont be too complex. Hopefully someone will chime in with a suggestion of an auto electrician. I don't know of any myself.
I would be surprised if otherwise (assuming original?). Perhaps the speedo cable came free from the back of the speedo and whipped around tearing out wires behind there.........
But assuming a mechanical speedo, an earth would have no effect. Of course there could be multiple issues.
I would start by pulling the instrument cluster out.
1968 I would be surprise if it had an electric speedo most things in 1968 were just coming off of Dynamo to alternator!??? So would suspect earthing problem
2nd that speedo most likey to be mechanical so easy to check
could be plug on back off dashboard for other items come off? or bad earth as chris say's they do have earth points dotted around
what dose fuse chart or book say for fuse for these items all on one fuse? or differant fuses
have you checked fuse box with dvm (didital volt meter) check you have power to both side's of fuse of couse check meter works first before trying
you might even have a second fuse box somewhere don't know what previous owner has done
keep the update's coming in
