Looking for a 1970 through to 1973 model Rolls Royce Silver Shadow in the UK done upto 100,000 miles with service history for past 5/6 yrs. Full service before sale to incl brakes, suspension, hydraulics and electrics. Free Dealer Obligor Warranty for 3 months and option to buy extended warranty.
Minimal rust, mechanically sound with good leather, woodwork, chrome , glass ,bodywork ,paint and tyres. What price should I pay for one ?
Am I missing something which might end up being a costly mistake, if I pay GBP 8000 -10000 for one answering to the above description ?

I'm no expert on these but as with all prestige cars I think the rule is buy the very best example you can afford. Find a good buyer's guide too - I think Practical Classics did one and it's probably available online.

I remember Jeremy Clarkson bought something simliar on TG once, the prices he gave for brake parts etc was shocking, well into the thousands IIRC
I also remember Mike Brewer bought a Bentley on Wheeler Dealers and I seem to recall he paid more attention to the mechanicals than the body (a stark contrast to when I buy American as I pay for more attention to the body. Mechanics and electrics are easy - body work costs!!)
The lesson I would learn from the above is that a service history and a folder full of reciepts is more important for a Roller or Bentley than the body work!!
Find a buyers guide, talk to some knowledgable people (a specialist forum?) and buy the best mechanical example you can and leave budget for a respray!!
