If you’re dead set on buying a 2nd gen Trans Am because the Bandit drove one, you should probably get the 1977 Special Edition he used in the first Smokey and the Bandit. But if you don’t need all that pop culture cache and you just want a badass 2nd gen example, how about this 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM 10th Anniversary Edition?Well, she can be yours, if the price is right this weekend at Auctions America. But because of the rising value of the 2nd gen Firebirds, it’s tough to pinpoint an estimate; as of right now, this baby is presumed to go for between $35k and $50k.As to rarity and significance, only 7,500 10th Anniversary Editions were ever made, with anybody’s guess as to how many are still around. And this is the same model used for the 1979 Daytona 500 pace car. This car in particular sports some highly commendable assets, including the 400-cid Pontiac V-8 engine, the four-speed manual, the WS6 handling package, the ever-awesome T-top, and a glorious five-color hood bird with wings that reach over the fenders. Please enjoy a few of the choice photos below. And there’s plenty more over at Auctions America too. But careful where you click, cause you might just find yourself bidding!Chime in with your thoughts on the forum. >> #gallery-2 { margin: auto; } #gallery-2 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 20%; } #gallery-2 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-2 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ <br style="clear: both" /> <br style="clear: both" />
