A new Jaguar E-Pace. Barrel-rolling said E-Pace. A new Range Rover variant. A 600bhp XE. It"s fair to say Jaguar Land Rover has been quite busy of late, and you"d be forgiven for thinking they"d overlooked the poor ol" XJ.Well, they haven"t. Today Jaguar has revealed the XJR575, which is noted as being "the most dynamic derivative in the line-up". The nomenclature refers to its power in PS (567bhp, if you prefer) from that 5.0-litre supercharged V8.That"s a smidge over 24bhp more than the current range-topping XJR (542bhp) the 575 replaces, and brings with it 516lb ft of torque (15lb ft more than the XJR), matched up to the standard eight-speed auto gearbox and rear wheel drive. Blend all of that together and you end up with 0-62mph in 4.4s (two tenths quicker than the old XJR) and a top speed of 186mph again, 12mph more than the old R.So it"s fast enough for a luxury, 1,875kg limo then. Though only available in the short wheelbase variant, you do get a new front bumper and lower air intake, new side sills, a new rear spoiler, 20in gloss black wheels, red calipers, XJR575 badging and diamond-quilted seat finishing inside. And more badging.There"s more digital stuff inside, too. 4G wi-fi, a larger 10in central touchscreen, and the rest of Jag"s 2018 XJ safety assistance (lane assist, traffic detection, that sort of thing)."This is a performance vehicle, but that doesn"t mean we have had to cut any corners when it comes to comfort or design," explains Jag"s design director Ian Callum. "Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar saloon.
