Say the word bobsled" too many times and it sounds ever more entertaining. So here we go: BMW is developing a two-man bobsled in collaboration with the German Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation (BSD). That"s the prototype, above, scheduled for first ice-track tests before the year is out. BMW is planning on transferring its considerable carmaking skills into bobsleds. They"re starting with something called an innovation driver", using BMW Motorsport"s measurement system to analyse performance, no less. "Aerodynamics, chassis development and carbon fabrication are areas in which BMW is working at the highest level, and which are also extremely important for a racing sled," according to BMW"s Thomas Hahn. That"s right, people, RACING SLED.
