The TB9052FNG motor pre-driver integrated circuit(IC) from Toshiba America ElectronicComponents, Inc. (TAEC) was developed for safety-critical automotiveapplications such as electric power steering and other systems compliantwith Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL D). In addition to the mainpre-driver circuit, TB9052FNG features a built-in motor current detectioncircuit in a redundant configuration, reducing board size and system complexitywhile contributing to functional safety, claims TAEC. Also contributing to functional safetyare the product"s range of circuits that detect system failures, includingbattery under-voltage, 5-V under voltage, over temperature, and driverelectrical short. Contained in a HTSSOP48-P-300-0.50 package measuring 12.5 x6.1 x 1.2 mm (0.49 x 0.24 x 0.05 in), the TB9052FNG has four channels, twohigh-side and two low-side, and includes a charge pump to solely driveN-channel MOSFETs.
