While the new Z06 is by no means a dog around a road course, posting a better time than the mighty Porsche 918 at Virginia International Speedway earlier this year (with some caveats), from a sheer performance metrics standpoint, it still pales in comparison to the 903 horsepower, million-dollar McLaren P1.

At the level of performance both of these cars can dish out, driver skill becomes a major factor in wringing out what these beasts are capable of – there are very few individuals that can fully exploit either of them.

Impressive stuff.

I knew Dave would like this article so had to share, read all:- Video: C7 Z06 Keeps Pace With McLaren P1 On Track – But How? - LSXTV

The truth and is in the text. For the dollar almost nothing beats the Z06, but the track will almost always favour one car over another. For example, when Top Gear tested the Cayman vs C7, the Vette took the win by almost 3 secs. If the track had been more twisty the a Caymans loss would probably have been less. If the track had been more open the Vette would have had a bigger advantage. Same thing here.
Top gear chose to compare on price, but if they had compared another car on horsepower then who knows the result?
It's why I prefer corner carving over drag racing - driver skill ( I have none), HP, tyres and track type all play a huge part!
Thanks for the post! And I think the C7 is much better looking than the P1!

I would go for the McLaren, because it would tease Sarah's brother as he really like's them, and I want to be first to get one.

Its great to hear American Muscle cars are knocking super-cars down a peg or two. I wouldn't mind seeing a Saleen S7 in person, never seen one close up, only on TV or their website.
