We are big fans of the Drag Addicts YouTube channel. They keep things short, sweet and simple when it comes to drag racing action. With this video, featuring a sixth-gen Camaro SS and an early-model C3 Corvette, the video is intentionally kept short. This is grudge racing action. First one to the end of the strip wins, which means whoever can beat the tree has a big advantage.Interestingly, despite being separated by over 45 years, both cars are packing an LT1 V8. Chevrolet has famously used the LT1 moniker three different times over the years. The C3 Corvette is packing the first iteration, which, with 5.7-liters of displacement, is good for a theoretical 370 horsepower. On the flip side, the Camaro SS has the current LT1 under the hood. With 6.2-liters of displacement, the blue Chevy has at least 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque at its disposal. So the current Chevy has a big horsepower advantage, though the C3 is a touch lighter. However, as we’ve mentioned before, it’s not about how much power your car has, but how (well) you use it. Check out the wheel and tire situation on the two cars. While the Camaro seems to be rocking stock wheels, on presumably street tires, the C3 Corvette is running smaller wheels, with a fat sidewall.Right off the line, the Corvette squats down over those rear tires and pulls out to commanding lead. The Camaro SS is catching up on the big end, but when both cars trip the beams, it’s too late. Suspension tuning and tire grip no doubt led to this result.Join the LS1tech forums today!Tags: camaro, Camaro SS, Chevrolet, Chevy, Corvette, Drag Race
