If you’re lucky enough to own a Camaro ZL1, you already know what kind of monster it is. Straight off the showroom floor, this thing comes packing a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing a healthy 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. And even though it’s designed to carve corners like Gordon Ramsey carves a turkey, it’s also pretty darn quick in a straight line, too. With stock tires, 0-60 takes 3.5-seconds and the quarter-mile flashes by in just 11.7 ticks. Not too shabby for a $72k car.So you can’t blame the owner of this black Camaro ZL1 for wanting to wring it out a little at the drag strip. And they did just that, tossing on a set of sticky drag radials and heading out to a recent Ontario Street Outlaws event north of the border. And in a fitting twist of fate, his opponent was the polar opposite of his car, a classic Chevy Nova with big and littles. Which makes this particular showdown that much more interesting.Of course, anybody who knows anything about drag racing can sense danger from the start. The Nova kicks things off with a nice burnout, but the Camaro ZL1 driver’s attempt is less than anemic. And once the tree lights up, things get even worse. The modern Chevy stumbles off the line while the Nova hooks and goes. And that’s all she wrote. The end result is an embarrassing 12.56-second pass for the ZL1, compared to a 10.43 for our old school Nova. But even though it was a day to forget for one driver, this video also teaches us an important lesson. It isn’t just about the car you drive. Because that car is only as good as the driver behind the wheel!Join the LS1tech forums now!Tags: Chevrolet, Chevy, Drag Racing, Nova, Video, ZL1
