When he isn"t setting outright records at Pikes Peak in purpose-built, all-electric Volkswagen prototypes, or racing Porsches at Spa or Le Mans, Romain Dumas enjoys a spot of rallying. And who wouldn"t, when they"ve got something like this to drive. It"s the Porsche Cayman R-GT, and Dumas says he"s taking it to Rally Germany later this month. Ooof. Go watch this video. Sounds tremendous, doesn"t it? Details are scant, but odds are the R-GT will compete in the FIA"s R-GT class, which permits rear-wheel drive and features such cars as the Porsche 911 and Abarth 124. From the noise we gather it retains the GT4"s 3.8-litre N/A, 911-derived flat-six, no doubt coupled to a rally-ready gearbox, brakes, suspension and so-on. No word on power or performance yet, but bank on lots and much.
