What do four doors, six speeds, and eight cylinders add up to? If you said the Chevrolet SS, you’d be right. Chevrolet (via its Holden subsidiary in Australia) made the dreams of performance-focused family men everywhere come true when it put an LS3 in the front of a sedan and yoked that V8 to a six-cog manual. According to Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire in the following video, those components also add up to a car that’s superior to the legendary BMW M5 super sedan of the late ’90s/early 2000s. Back then, that car had conservative good looks, a healthy V8, and a row-your-own tranny……just like the SS. The difference – other than the years of development and advancement between the two cars – is that the American car drives better and has more power, a warranty, and a ton of aftermarket support, according to Farah. In some circles (probably those on a BMW owners site), that claim adds up to something, too: a flame war.Chime in with your thoughts on the forum. >>Follow @derekshiekhiTags: chevrolet ss, LS3, SS, the smoking tire, Video
