“Everyone knows about the Chevy SS!” That’s usually how we start these pieces, except that’s not the case this time. These cars are a bit uncommon, having been slow sellers in the U.S. despite how capable and excellent they are. Only true enthusiasts seem to be able to discern the difference between an SS and a Malibu from a glance. Some people really enjoy that, having a “sleeper” car that flies under the radar and is an unsuspecting performer. But the SS is a serious performer, it comes with an LS3 engine, magnetorheological shocks (“MagnaRide”) all stuffed in an extremely competent Holden chassis and unsuspecting four-door body. If the standard 415 horsepower SS is not serious enough, try throwing a power-adder into the mix! The LS engines respond excellently to boost, and in today’s video, this fellow did just that. Courtesy a 2.9L roots style supercharger, this SS is kicking out about 550 horsepower at the flywheel, yet this particular SS uses a quiet exhaust and with the exception of some nice, understated wheels and black trim, would raise no eyebrows from the 5-0, or anyone else for that matter, increasing the “Q-ship” factor even further.
