The '80's were not good for American cars. They were still learning how to make power and meet emissions regulations. The had lowered the compression lower than most blower motors run today and they were stifled by emissions gadgets. They can be made to make power now of course but anything thats factory would have trouble outrunning a dead dog!

i had a 77 Cadillac 425 cu in 165 bhp and a 79 Cadillac 350 cu in 145 bhp great car's but so slow 80 mph speedo was all they needed

The 80's sluggishness is easy fixed. Aluminium heads, headers and emissions removed. Or just drop in a big block Chevy!
