Cyber Threats

Today I'm in London at a security seminar.
Frankly I am astounded at how sophisticated the hackers have become, but even more astounded by how easy we make it for the nasty people to have sufficient information for identity theft, blackmail or just plain financial gain. Think you don't? Then answer this question.... could your name plus one other piece of information be easily gathered from just one site (Facebook for example). That other information could be an email address, phone number, photo, home address? If the answer is yes you are at risk.
Think you have your Facebook profile tied down and locked? Irrelevant unless everyone you are linked too is aldo secure.
It's really very frightening and I intend to spend my time on the train home thinking about how I can tighten my security and I am much less vulnerable than most.

Think it wont happen to you? Got even £1 in your bank account? You're a valid target.

Totally agree. So much information is out there of people. Saw an advert on TV the other day. They got the persons name from facebook, knew the address as they had a photo of themselves out side their house, from that they got loads of other info.

The best security is to not be connected.

And the Internet of things devices are terrible. If you have internet connected cameras, smart tv's, and devices like Amazon Echo you need to be very prepared for the worst to happen.
