Go for it, diablo are good, a nice simple module to tweak values, increase HP and will have with diagnostics when/if you get issues down the line. Certainly cheaper than taking it somewhere for diagnostics and adjustments.
Yes, the canned tune is good for 20hp and 20lb/ft torque with supporting mods and the right grade fuel. The price paid is quite cheap for that sort of increase alone. But it also helps me adjust throttle sensitivity and torque management along with correcting for tyre size variations ( although I got that so close with my width vs profile calculations......)
I can also use it to add completely customized tunes and data log.
Very useful piece of kit.
There is some fact behind it. The manufacturers tune them for best emissions but that isn't necessarily the best for economy.
I also imagine they have to use the line or get sued by the environmental agencies!
Will be interesting to hear about the Diablo, I haven't known anyone have one. It looks like a tidy gadget, with positive responses on forums. I'm sure you will update us when you start using it.
It does seem to be on a tour of the US before heading off out over the Atlantic......
Have to wonder about the efficiency of the US postal service at times.....
Hopefully it wont be like my parcel (it arrived safe) but took a tour of the world. Left Chicago then 5 days later landed that plane must have been carrying a lot of fuel to stay up for 5 days, and then clocked into customs, then customs sat on it for 6 days. Then had to wait for the customs charge in the post before it could be released.

It was delivered Thursday and I set about playing with it on Saturday.
The fuel tank was empty in the Challenger so my first job was to fill it. I normally go with wherever is cheapest but knowing the tune would call for a higher octane I went and filled the tank with Shell V-Power.
Next i plugged the tuner into the odb port where it informed me it needed to download updates for the PCM firmware. I couldn't attach to the home wifi so I hot spotted it off my phone and it downloaded the update without needing to attach to my laptop.
It then preceeded to update with PCM. Bit nervy as the dash lights up like a Christmas tree and the chimes sound.
The update took about 10mins including download.
Once complete I was able to apply the tune. I chose the 91 octane time with CAI. I chose this as American octane rating are different to the U.K. Ones and this most closely matched the v-power rating.
Once again, a few minutes of lights and chimes and then it's done.
So did it make any difference?
Well firstly, it's changed the exhaust note. From cold startup to hot WOT blasts it's got a deeper bellow. It's also removed some of the drone I have (no resonators). I can't figure it out TBH.
Performance, yes a little quicker. It's hard to quantify but the butt dyno says it's more responsive.
I still have some settings to play with to reduce the impact of the torque management but overall I'm happy. It's actually fairly cheap HorsePower for the dollar.
Ok. After getting some more miles on with the tune I am going to play some more.
Firstly I plan to change the cooling fan switch on temps. The tune has put lower temps in and the fans are running too much.
Secondly, The Diablo has torque management settings to enable me to reduce how much torque management is applied. Not sure why they do this but I want power when I want power and I don't want some nanny determining it for me!
Thirdly, the Challenger has drive by wire throttle so it uses a variable resistor (potentiometer) and not a direct cable. The Diablo can allow me to tune how much pedal movement relates to throttle openings. So instead of 1:1, I could go 1.25:1 or for every 1cm of movement at the pedal I get 1.25cm of movement of the throttle blades... you get the idea.
Torque management is one of the firth things people play with on the 4th gen automatic T/A's. So sounds like its worth going for it. Seen it play with spark timing to protect the tranny.
I lowered my fans too, I have a lower stat in it, usual running temperature is 176, where is used to be 20 degree higher. Fans only seem to come on once parked up.
Certainly worth playing with things. Soo much it can do, and you can really change the way it drives. you can make it run like an old dog until you ask for power, or you can have it run smooth, or anywhere in between.
Interesting Dan as mine is a stick shift. Maybe torque management is Auto only?
I'll have a chance to play on Wednesday evening so will know more then.
I thought the torque management was for auto, but then could be thinking that the traction control alters timing, I have no traction control either.
My Torque management values are all zero'd out from stock. So my car never had this control. So cant say I've had experience with it. It is on a separate configuration tab to auto's. Which would makes me think the torque management isn't dependent on tranny type.
