The quickest 6th gen Chevrolet Camaro in the world is the supercharged, bottled machine known as the Fireball Camaro, which has turned in a best time of 9.003 at 149 miles per hour. However, another 6g Camaro SS owner is looking to claim the title of the world"s quickest late model Chevy muscle car and he has turned to the folks from Late Model Racecraft to help him reach that goal.The white 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS shown above is owned by Garry Means, who named it "Ominous.” Since acquiring his new Chevy muscle car, Means has decided that he wants his Camaro to be the quickest of its kind and he aims to reach that title with the help of LMR. The stock LT1 was bored and stroked to 416 cubic inches, fitted with an LMR custom camshaft package and a set of custom LMR cylinder heads. Next, a high volume fuel system, American Racing headers and a massive ProCharger supercharger were added, which when coupled with a good engine tune from LMR laid down 1,015 rear wheel horsepower at 18 pounds of boost.That output made Garry Means" LMB-built 2017 Camaro SS the first to break the thousand wheel horsepower mark, but this car isn"t a dyno queen. This car still has the stock 8-speed automatic transmission fitted with a prototype Circle D torque convertor and the stock rear differential with a 1-piece steel driveshaft connecting the two along with unique wheels and tires which are better suited for the drag strip.The Ominous Camaro has 1,000+ rear wheel horsepower, a transmission with stock internals, a fully stock rear end and stock weight, but Means and the LMR team have already turned some impressive times after just a handful of runs. To be exact, Ominous has only been down the track a handful of times, but the team has already run a best time of 9.51 at 148.95 miles per hour.That makes Ominous the quickest 2017 Camaro and the second-quickest 6th gen Camaro overall trailing only the Fireball Camaro.Garry Means and the LMR team plan to send the first 6g Camaro into the 8s in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, enjoy this video of the Ominous Camaro in action.Tags: 6th Gen Camaro, camaro, drag race monday, LT1
