Chevrolet has teamed up with the Yas Marina Circuit in the UAE to offer American muscle car fans a chance to go drag racing in the 6th gen Camaro SS for just $177.The Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates is best known as a high speed open wheel race track. However, the facility has teamed up with Chevrolet to give local fans of the 6th generation Chevrolet Camaro SS a chance to make a quarter mile pass in the newest American muscle car.Appropriately named the Chevrolet Camaro Drag Race Experience, this program gives participants a chance to learn about drag racing while making quarter mile runs in the new Camaro SS. This program begins with the drivers receiving a technical briefing from the Yas Drag Racing Centre"s chief instructor. After getting a classroom explanation of how drag racing in the Camaro SS works, participants head out to the track for their first run. A run which takes place with the instructor at the wheel and the participant in the passenger"s seat. On the second run, the instructor switches seats, giving participants the chance to make a quarter mile run under the watchful eye of a skilled racing teacher, and should that second run go well the rest of the runs will be made without an instructor in the car.The Yas Marina website doesn"t state just how many runs attendees will get in the new Camaro SS, but it seems that drivers will get to make at least a handful of runs down the quarter mile. Many of which should be well into the 12-second range with the help of the paddle-shifted automatic transmission.Best of all, those folks who live in or around Abu Dhabi will likely enjoy the price, as the Camaro Drag Racing Experience has a price of just $177 US Dollars (AED 650). So learning how to go drag racing in the new Camaro SS is surprisingly inexpensive.
