Visions come in many shapes and sizes, but this one is pretty big. Rotek Racing, along with Katech Performance, have decided to work together to build what would become the fastest Corvette to ever ascend the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.Pikes Peak has been testing man and machine for decades, but with a complete paving of some sections which used to be gravel, records have fallen, if not destroyed. With an opportunity to stand as the fastest Corvette ever to compete, driver Robb Holland took the helm of a C7 Z06.While Rotek had the vision of a new record, Katech saw an opportunity to showcase their performance parts for road cars. Proving that parts intended for standard road cars could hang with race cars, this awesome Z06 was built. Katech’s own ported throttle body and heads help things flow better, and working with the supercharger pulley nets 800 horsepower, and an equal number for torque.Robb, who’s a world-class sports car racer, set a blistering time of 10:55.166, which earned 4th in class in Time Attack 1. Not bad for a car essentially built to street-car specifications. Want to see the run? Watch the video above. No background music, only V8 rumble and America’s most prestigious hill climb course.Follow @pmorganracingTags: Corvette, pikes peak, racing, Z06
