Remember the Fisker Karma? It was a slinky electric-powered luxury saloon, sold before the Tesla Model S came along. Sadly, it"s story isn"t one with the same successful ending. But the man behind it, Henrik Fisker, is having another crack at the posh EV market, with a newly renamed company and what appears to be a crossover to rival the Model X.It certainly has an opening procedure to take on Tesla"s falcon wing doors: Fisker"s mysterious new model has dihedral butterfly" doors, just like a McLaren P1, but it uses them front and rear.Apparently they aid ingress and egress, but they"re an equally effective way of getting lots of attention directed at your new attempt at a sustainable luxury car. From this teaser image, it appears more sveltely styled than anything yet made by Tesla, though full judgement is reserved until less teasing pictures land.Firm details are scant, but Henrik Fisker has been reasonably active on social media announcing the return of his company. "The original Fisker is back. I am very proud to be launching Fisker Inc. with a game changing battery technology," he recently tweeted.A range of around 400 miles is expected, though it"s thought Fisker isn"t chasing autonomous driving breakthroughs like Tesla. The picture above is captioned "more next week", so keep an eye on TopGear.com for more updates.
