Since its launch, us Europeans have only been able to buy the Ford Fiesta ST with three doors. And it looks great, but getting normal-sized people and their belongings in and out can be a bit of a challenge.Well, Ford has just solved the problem by giving us the five-door Fiesta ST so enjoyed by Americans for years, making the hot Fiesta and erstwhile TG favourite more useful, and thus better. Besides the extra doors, the five-door ST which Ford reckons will account for a quarter of ST sales in Europe is mechanically and aesthetically identical to the three-door. That means a 180bhp turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder, 177lb ft and 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds.And a chassis so good the ST was deservedly crowned TG"s Car of the Year in 2013. Competition may be fiercer now that it was back then the 208 GTI by Peugeot Sport is a mighty, mighty thing but we reckon the Fiesta still tops the class. Just.
