Built in 1966 in the Edison Ford Factory, Metuchen, New Jersey this Mustang Fastback was built on the 4th March, 1966 and later sold in Ford District Sales Office at Richmond, Virginia. It was later owned by Jerry W. Ferrell from 1990 for over 26 years until around 2016 when it was bought by a David W Wilkey of Wilkey & Kring Motorsport who collects Mustangs but eventually he sold it to a car dealership in Maryville, Tennessee in the Smokey Mountains when I purchased it in November 2017. Under Ferrell s ownership it lived with him garaged in Lebanon, Tennessee. This Mustang was restored fully during the 1990s which featured an entire engine rebuild. The miles showing on the car is not on the build (engine rebuild) so it s assumed to have been driven less than the stated mileage on the odometer. This also included an interior restoration to its original build sheet. The only change from when it rolled out the factory was a paint change from Candy Apple Red to Signal Flare Red a correct 1966 Ford Mustang colour which really stands out with the white stripes.

This 1966 Ford Mustang 289 Cubic Inch V8 (4735cc) 2 Barrel Carb is in a fantastic condition and one of the best Mustang Fastbacks in the UK it really does move. It is a fresh import from Tennessee and spent the last 30 years there in Wilson County. This Signal Flare Red Mustang is in great condition overall and looks beautiful as well as sounds good although quieter than expected due to its near stock exhaust setup. With the chrome in most places being in excellent condition as is the paintwork asides from the odd unavoidable age-related marks. The body has great lines and looking down the sides the panels are straight. Everything is covered in the slick Red Signal paint that has a deep rich shine and is accented by the White Stripes Shelby Stripes. At the time of the repaint new seals were installed around the windshield and back glass. The bumpers were replaced as well as other chrome like the door handles and tail light trim. To complete the look, it"s sitting on a set of Magnum 500 Wheels with a thick tread of Cobra Copper Radials G/Ts which give the car a very muscular look. The exterior of this Mustang is in very good order, the paint is good with no major blemishes and the chrome has no pitting.

On the inside it"s all done in black with the correct period bucket seats and centre console, it s a very original interior. It being a 2+2 it does have the fold down back seat for added practicality. The seat covers, carpet, and door panels all look like new as does the headliner. When you look at the dash it"s also black and is all stock with a new dash pad. It has the AM FM Radio and the gauge instruments with the 140 speedo. To complete the look, it has the Ford wood wheel and a set of Ford floor mats in the front and rear to add protection and style. It is an undamaged and well-kept interior that is very original and helps accentuate the muscle car feel of the car. The interior was restored and taken back to exactly the way it left the factory. The black definitely sets off the exterior and really draws your attention towards the inside of the car. The interior is in good condition all dials and gauges are working and are in fantastic condition and the trunk has no rust and includes the original plaid cover and a spare tire.

Finally, we will take a look at the driveline of the Mustang. Under the hood it all looks clean and is powered by a responsive 4.7 ltr 289 cu V8 (8-Cylinder 289 CID 2-V C-Code) hooked to a smooth shifting C4 Cruise-o-Matic transmission (3-Speed) and an 8 rear end. All gear shifts are notch free and precise as well as the engine runs sweet with no issues whatsoever even at very high speeds. The shipping company said in 20 years of importing thousands of Mustangs this was the second best one they had ever imported they highly approved of the quality of the engine rebuild. Everything is detailed nicely and tidy with the motor being painted in the original Ford blue and chrome valve covers which add some shine to the bay. This Mustang retains the stock manifolds and single exhaust which has been left for whoever buys the car to perhaps customise and add their own exhaust to the car as everyone has different exhaust sound preferences. Looking underneath the floorplans all appear solid and underneath itself is in fantastic condition with decent weatherproofing and no rust.

Optional extras on this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback include Heater, Demist System, Cruise-o-Matic Automatic Transmission (3-Spd), Original Mustang AM/FM Radio and Antenna, Lemans Dual Over-the-Top Racing Stripes, GT Rocker Panel Stripes, Leather / Vinyl Interior, Power Steering, Hood Scoop, 1966 Handbook, Emergency Flashers, Padded Sun Visors, Ford Wood Wheel, Centre Console Full Length with ashtray, Smokers Pack, Tool Kit, Mustang Floor Mats Front and Rear, Cooper Cobra Radial G/T Tires, Windshield Washer Kit, Electric Windshield Wipers 2-Speed, Tinted Windshield, Magnum 500 Wheels, Spare Tire, Driver Side Mirror and Fold Down Rear Seats. This Mustang maintains a lot of optional extras for the time and very desirable ones. This Mustang really does have to be seen to be fully appreciated, in person it looks absolutely brilliant and is a real head turner which receives lots of attention on the street. It also comes supplied with a V5C registration document, classic car registration plates and a current MOT test certificate which expires on 15th January 2019 as well as the car is tax free!

I have also invested over 4,500 to bring this Mustang to a much higher standard and quality classic car that is deserved of the Mustang name. It has recently been two-stage machine polished and protected by a detailing company. With the Mustang being one of the most beloved classics and only growing in popularity and value this is one pony that is sure to gallop out of here as fast as it galloped in.
