Over the last few years, the Ferrari World Finals - that"s the Mondiali", if you"re fluent in Ferrari has pinballed all over the planet to showcase the magic of the Prancing Horse in a celebratory pat-yourself-on-the-back end-of-year knees-up. However, it"s never been to the USA. Until last weekend.Yep, America played host to Ferrari fever as the Daytona International Speedway in Florida was transformed into Mecca for anything made in Maranello. Giving American fans who enjoy dressing up as Sebastian Vettel on race day, check the time on their Panerai Ferrari watches and bleed Rossa Corsa the chance to go Ferrari mad.So what"s a Mondiali" then? Well, since 1993, it"s been Ferrari"s way of drawing the curtains on the motorsport season, inviting noted Ferrari alumni, owners and fans to help bring the racing year to a close. This year saw a bill packed to the rafters to sate the assembled fans of the Cavallino, including the final races of the three Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli series (Asia Pacific, Europe and North America), Ferrari Challenge and the world"s largest parade of Ferraris in one place. There"s more to the event than gentleman racers swapping paint on Daytona"s famous banking and monied owners bumbling around on track. As owners of the XX cars - think 599XX, FXX and FXXK - put the track-specials through their paces. But still, even the FXX represents only Championship-level Ferrari ownership. The Premiership comes in the shape of the F1 Clienti programme. This is for people who"ve always dreamed of being an F1 driver but never quite made it because they (a) weren"t quick enough and (b) were too busy becoming rich. Bond-villain wealth brings the ability to buy one of Ferrari"s legendary F1 machines driven by the likes of Lauda, Raikkonen and Schumacher. For an unspecified sum of money we"re guessing somewhere in between a lot" and GDP of China" you can own and take the legendary Scuderia F1 cars on the track with a full support team behind you. They"ll teach you how to get the best out of the car, they"ll fix it if it goes wrong and they"ll dry-clean your race suit when it gets muddy.Sure, the F1 Clienti programme might just be another game for the super-privileged, but at least it gets these cars out onto the track, cars that would be otherwise shacked up at a museum. Certainly, it"s a more altruistic way to splash your cash that buying another super-yacht or developing that volcano-mounted moon-laser.The Ferrari Challenge, XX programme and Corsa Clienti might just be another game for the super-privileged, but it does provide some stunning photographs. And even though the FIA officially frowns upon donuts (the party poopers), in the comfort of its own circuit, Ferrari can do what it likes. So click through the gallery and let the smoke pour.
