General Motors plans to go 100 percent electric, the Detroit automaker announced Monday 2nd Oct 2017.GM Is Going All Electric, Will Ditch Gas- and Diesel-Powered Cars - NBC New

GM's goal is to abandon the internal combustion engine entirely. At some yet-unspecified point, all of its products will draw power either from batteries or hydrogen. Fuel cells are sometimes referred to as “refillable batteries.” They rely on devices called stacks to combine hydrogen and oxygen from the air to produce water vapor and electric current. That power is used to drive the same sort of motors used in battery-cars.

I'm sure there business model shows the return but effectively they won't be able to sell to some countries where the infrastructure doesn't support it. But then they don't give a timescale...
2100 is probably realistic.
Having said that I'm currently sat in a motorway service station charging my car up! Pulled in with only 10miles range left and will pull out 40mins afterwards with a full charge and a belly full of hot chocolate!

Oh no, only 10miles left, good job the service station was there. Do you still get to charge it up at work? Did you miss a charge opportunity or is the battery storing less?

Need pictures of the charging and hot chocolate. lol.

Just a longer journey and I planned my journey around the filling station.
No pictures of the hot chocolate although I suppose I could get a picture of it's transformed state in later life!

:poop:
