Well the Fiero came out from under the cover today and we spent all afternoon given her a well earned clean.

Thoughts?

Don't see many of these car's about looking good

A few battle scars on the paintwork but looks pretty good.
I rebuilt the engine top-end a couple of years ago along with all the suspension so its pretty sorted.
And of all the Fiero's the 88 is the rarest and the one to have - lots of one year only goodies that made it the best. Pontiac were aiming squarely at the Corvette with it, with a v8 due in 89 but GM killed it as nothing could top the Generals top offering!
Of course they are mostly remembered for the fires in the early 4 cylinder models!!

Very clean and tidy. Its been well looked after.

That thing would shift with a V8 in it, if only GM made it, not worth changing the one you have as its a great example of a rare car.

I expect without one of these two would shift, big engine in a small car. I bets yours would go around corners better.

There is a company who makes conversions for them.
The two most popular are the Northstar V8 & the Pontiac V6 3.8L Supercharged (Grandprix engine) as they are both already a transaxle setup.
The Northstar is 300hp and the Pontiac is 260hp, both of which would fly in a car weighing 2800lbs or about a 800lbs less than a 4th gen Trans-Am / Camaro.
I have also seen an LS3 with a centri shoe-horned into a Fiero - not something you would mess with away from the lights, and the owner reported the aluminium LSx engine didn't affect the handling either and they do corner well!

Would be fun and maybe if it wasn't the 88 model we would consider it - but the 88 was the last year of production and the rarest so the anemic little v6 stays (for now....!)

Next week the Camaro is getting a real good clean.....there's a lot of dirt/dust on the bodywork and some fuzz on the interior after being sat in the garage. So she's coming out for an airing, cleaning and some well needed tlc :)

Dont forget them pictures :)

You know Sarah, you could squeeze a little more power out of that 3.1 with a 30thou overbore. I just happen to have a set of pistons for that exact purpose sat in the garage!! :smartass::whistling:
