Message from the organisers.
Dear Club Secretary,
I would like to draw your attention to Gosport’s annual Vehicle Rally, which will be held on the Summer
Bank Holiday, Monday, 28th August 2023.
The rally is organised and manned by the Rotary Club of Gosport, Hampshire and is a fund-raising
event for nominated charities. All funds raised go to charity and the Rotary Club gives its time freely
in the lead-up, organisation and staffing on the day of the rally. In 2022 over £10,000 was raised.
The Rally
There are numerous classes of vehicle, for example, pre-1945, Classic, Military, Kit-cars and also Motor
Bikes. To compliment the day there are amusements, attractions and stalls selling various
merchandise and products. Refreshment stands and a fully licensed bar also participate on the day.
The entry fee will be £5.00 for cars on the day, £3.00 for motorcycles; for pre-booked vehicles £4.00
for cars and £2.00 for motorcycles.
If you wish any of your cars to be judged then they must be booked in and registered prior to the
event; they will not be judged if they register on the day.
Location
The rally uses spacious grounds at Stokes Bay [PO12 2BL] in Gosport and is a few yards away from the
Solent, with its Pebble Beach café, restaurant and bar. Should your club wish to come along and
perhaps bring your own gazebo, for example, then this could easily be accommodated. A number of
entrants have done so in the past and enjoyed a pleasant picnic.
Make a Weekend of it
For those wanting to make a weekend of it there are numerous hotels and bed and breakfast
establishments nearby, together with a camping and caravan park. Local attractions abound such as
the forts and the naval dockyard where one can enjoy exciting museums such as Mary Rose and HMS
Victory. In Gosport, many years a submarine base, one can visit HMS Alliance and many other
submarine displays. Water bus tours of the Harbour run regularly. For those with retail in mind, visit
Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth which was modelled on the V&A shopping centre in Cape Town.
There are hundreds of shops catering for all tastes and requirements.
What Next
If there is interest in this event within your Club, please contact the Secretary on
sec.gosportvehiclerally@gmail.com and entry forms will be forwarded to you, followed by posters
and flyers nearer the time.
Yours sincerely
