Hennessey knows a thing or two about forward propulsion. After all, one of its taglines is, indeed, making fast cars faster". So this is right up TG"s street. It"s called the Mustang HPE800 25 Anniversary Edition, and as the name suggests, marks 25 years that Hennessey has been quietly building land-based rockets. The 25th treatment will be applied to a number of Hennessey cars, and this Mustang is the first one. Just 25 will be built, each with a price tag of $99,500. And what you get for that hundred-grand is a big fat haymaker of a muscle car.The new Stang"s 5.0-litre V8 gets an upgraded supercharger system (a 2.9-litre supercharger), along with a carbonfibre high flow air induction kit, upgraded fuel injectors and a better fuel pump, a recalibrated ECU and of course, some fluids. Then come the exterior mods you can see with your eyes. Things like the front splitter, rear lip spoiler, lightweight 20in wheels (staggered, wider at the rear), along with 15in Brembo brakes, lower suspension, lots of anniversary graphics and badges, and a certificate.Oh, and perhaps best of all, power. The Mustang now puts out 804bhp and a whopping 648lb ft of torque (the regular" 5.0-litre V8 pony car churns out 416bhp). As such, performance has increased quite significantly. It"ll run from 0-60mph in 3.1secs (where the standard V8 gets to 62mph in 4.8secs), run a quarter mile in 10.7secs at 133mph, and top out where applicable at a heady 207.9mph.These figures, are, says Hennessey, performed "with an experienced driver under ideal track conditions", but you have to admit, it"s plenty fast.Want one?
