Tesla appears to be trying its hand at all sorts. Supercar-quick saloons, school run SUVs, big lorries Include the endeavours of its overlord Elon Musk and you also head into the realms of space travel and time travel tunnels. In comparison, entering Le Mans is borderline conventional, even if it would mean extending electric power to its very limits. A 24-hour race seems like a stern challenge of a Tesla Supercharger.Alas, this design study of a Tesla Le Mans car isn"t official. It"s the work of graphic illustrators Jeroen Claus and Fabian Brees, but isn"t just a set of pictures it comes with its own back story. It"s intended to race at Le Mans 2030, and does so after a decade of change at the top of endurance racing. There"s been robotic pit stops and morphing tyres, but despite its electric power source, the Tesla"s entry has an air of the traditional about it: Claus and Brees list its drivers as Alonso, Verstappen, Vettel, Button, Webber and two generations of R ikk nen. Yep, Kimi and his son Robin are on a team together, we"re told.
