Jewson’s web site was hacked. If you used their on-line store between 23/8 & 3/11 your personal information and card details are at risk

Why are companies storing credit card information?

Going back to cash seems to be a better way forward. At least you know where you money it and in charge of how safe you want it to be.

Agree. I’m a cash user. Too much risk elsewhere.
For Jewson they should be grateful this happened ahead of GDPR. The fine will be cheaper, this time.

happening more and more this hacking,

If the company is connected and a good enough reward to be hacked then it will be done.
If you have to be connected to the world, then may sure your target/reward is smaller than everyone else then they should get hit first.

Facebook would be a great target for businesses as most of their employees are glued to facebook and got to be hitting their productivity.

Yes, but Facebook has no financial gain with the possible exception of identity theft via social engineering.
Hacking a web site that accepts payments is much quicker ££££
