This Kill Story showcases a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS taking on a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra in a highway roll race. This battle was originally posted to the forum by LS1Tech member big hammer with the video coming from the 007 Cobra YouTube channel and the results are fairly surprising especially to Ford fans. The competitorsThe odds are good that if you are reading this on LS1Tech, you are familiar with the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS. The new LT1 engine provides 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque, with all of that power being funneled towards the tires by a 6-speed manual transmission. The OP hasn"t added any modifications yet, so those stock power numbers apply to the Chevy muscle car in the video above. The 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was one of the most impressive muscle cars of its time. Its supercharged 4.6L V8 delivers 390 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque in stock form. These cars were so tough to beat when they were new that the racing world began calling them Terminators. But even more impressive than their out-of-the-box performance was their ability to make far more power with simple modifications. This particular Terminator Cobra has a ported supercharger, a 2.9-inch pulley and an aftermarket exhaust system with resulting wheel horsepower numbers in the range of 485 (according to the Mustang owner). Based on a 15% drivetrain loss factor, this Cobra should be making somewhere in the area of 570hp at the crankshaft, so it is considerably more powerful than the Camaro SS.ALSO SEE: LS1 Z28 vs. Terminator, who would win?The video begins with a quick walkaround of each of the cars, but we get right to the racing action with the 2018 Camaro and the 2003 Cobra cruising down the highway. When they line up side-by-side at 40mph, one of the cars honks the horn three times and the race begins with the Camaro gradually easing away from the Mustang. The LT1-powered Chevy gets out to the front bumper of the Mustang and stays there until very high speed, at which point the Ford catches back up (when the Camaro driver lifts). While this wasn"t a walkaway win for the Camaro, this video shows how well a new, stock LT1 will keep up with a modified 03-04 Cobra Mustang.Tags: 6th Gen Camaro, camaro, Drag Race, Kill Stories, LT1
