There"s not much point in writing anything here, because this story is all about the noise. The noise created by Vaughn Gittin Jr"s incredible 900bhp, Ford Mustang RTR drift car.You can listen to said noise in the video above, where Vaughn takes the modified Stang out for a little shakedown. And by shakedown, we of course mean headbutting the 9,000rpm limiter and creating rich plumes of lovely tyre smoke, and a raspy, metallic soundtrack that needs to be heard to be believed. The Mustang is Vaughn"s 2016 competition car, unveiled first at last year"s SEMA show. It sits on the new Mustang platform (which is good) and packs a 7.1-litre Ford Performance/Roush Yates-tuned V8 (which is also good). The best bit? Thanks to individual throttle body injection and a spangly air filter, it pumps out over 900bhp at a very, very lovely 9,000rpm. A big hearted, naturally aspirated V8 with a monster redline. Yes.It weighs just 1,270kg. It"s got a four-speed dog" gearbox. It has custom carbon fibre body panels, and a stripped out interior with Recaro bucket seats.A final word from Vaughn himself: "It"s crazy to think that I"m driving the equivalent of a 9-second drag racing car. sideways."Now, enough with the words. Click play and get to listenin".
