Lost a wheel nut, also the stud with it.

Well on my way up the hill tonight, heard a pop like i run over something, on the front right wheel.

It was only a short distance from the hill, though nothing off it. When breaking i could feel a wobble, like a warped brake disc would feel like.

Checked the wheel to see a stud was missing and checked the tightness of the others and could nip them up a bit more.

So was rather odd so checked all the others. perhaps I didn't nip this up after bleeding the brakes. Odd why one would snap, perhaps it was the only tight one, extra stress cause it to go.

The stud's are pressed into the hub. So looked in my spares found a complete hub assembly. So I'll get this swapped out tomorrow.

The swap looks very simple to do. Providing the 4 bolts come free.

With my new jack it should be quick to get the car up in the air now too. I have some penetration oil, so will let the bolts soak for a bit. Its only them 4 bolts that could slow me down. although undoing other similar bolts on the car has been simple. Brake calipers are easy to remove.

Yeah shouldn't take long at all. Glad I had a spare part.

Rained last night, Sarah asked did I hear the thunder, I said what Thunder, I guess that answered the question.

Yeah, woken up by thunder and heavy rain at 5am this morning which was what decided me on skipping Brooklands today. Nothing worse than a car show in the rain!

Hope those 4 bolts come undone. Mine did but getting the hub free was a nightmare.

thanks you sent it this way about 7 am heavy down poor, and have bail joint and fuel filter to change today great,

Mine has never been taken off since I owned it, so the bolts have been in there at least 15 years. They have probably done the whole 186k miles, driven in all weathers. So if yours were a pain, I guess mine will be too.
I do have a gas torch to apply some heat, but no gas. I can nip to screw fix later.

Missing stud.

2 bolts for the caliper, 4 bolts for the wheel hub.

The 4 bolts were fairly stuff, but could undo them with this ratchet and no hammering.

Took a bit of wacking with a hammer to get the old wheel hub bearing assembly off.

New one on, tightened up, ready for a test drive.

Yeah, had 16 in the boot. I brought Chrome ones a while back that are on the car, originals were kept, so that was handy.
Will get more as they look a little tatty now.
