Making available our 64 impala 2 door sports coupe.
Bought to drive across america our plans were unfortunately stymied due to weather issues and restrictions, and now currently being brought to the UK is excess to our requirements.

This is a St Louis Mo built sports coupe believed to have genuinely covered only 55000 miles from new
A little history;
we were told that it was originally owned by a father son pair who were doing up the car to do a long distance road trip in the US, when due to personal tragedy, the trip never happened. This was at a point where money had been poured into the car making it mechanically reliable and ready for the ardours of a cross country road trip. Hence the reason we bought it.
We however bought it yet one more owner down the line from the original owners. The guy we purchased from had bought this car from them, knowing them as personal friends, after their unfortunate set of events had made their planned trip impossible. This chap incidentally was a prize winning hot rod builder with another 3 cars in his collection. However, he himself had not used the vehicle for over a year when he decided that rather than let it sit in the (heated) garage unused, it was better to sell and let the car be used for the purpose that it had been prepared for. Thats where we came in.

Due to a change in weather at the time of purchase tho, our idea for a road trip was cut short. So its for that reason that weve decided to sell the car as we didnt get the chance to use it for the specific purpose that wed purchased it for, but didnt have the time to try and resell it in the US. Hence going to the trouble of importing it.

Included is a partial history and expenses file which includes a list of US "23 point tests" (an MOT type inspection) which it passed comfortably whilst it was in the US. It has had work done to it (as explained) and is a 50+ year old unrestored stock 64 impala, a rare beast indeed. Its no show queen even tho its a lovely looking vehicle. It is solid, clean, reliable and runs beautifully. Try and find a decent 64 coupe that hasnt by this point in its existence been slammed or bagged thats still at an affordable price!

Its running on a very sweet Original 283 (55k miles) and shifts beautifully - up and down. No 350 aftermarket small blocks here! Looking thru the 23 point test papers, this seems to support the assertion that this is indeed only a 55000 mile engine from new. The finish - to use American terms here - is a solid 10 footer. The chrome is solid (no rust) with minor blemishes if you look real hard. Up close the blemishes in the paint can be seen (original glaze crackling with age as this has NOT been resprayed nor rebuilt), but no one is trying to hide the age of the car here nor the fact that this car has never been restored. In fact it was the originality and the fact that it hadnt been restored that was one of the main buying issues for us in the first place. Its a daily drivers car or if preferred an excellent base for which to start a rolling restoration. Everything works inside the car, all gauges and switches, including the heater and original sound system. The interior is all original with only a rear seat fabric replacement having been done.
Recent new items that we were made aware of are;
Gas tank
Seat belts (none standard)
Battery
Coil springs
Shocks
CD player, linked to play thru the original am radio
Water pump
Fuel pump and
a larger capacity afermarket Aluminium radiator was added to enable the car to undertake the long journey that the car was being prepped for. This i believe is the only none original spec.

It has indeed had thousands spent on it in preparation of the planned road trip that unfortunately didnt happen

One last new item would be the additional set of Wheels and tyres (altho the ad is priced to sell with original wheels and hubs)
The wheels in the pics are aftermarkets that we have added and can be discussed at extra cost if theres an interest otherwise the vehicle will come with the original wheels and hubcaps - again, hard to find with caps from original.
It has been driven regularly since purchase in the US to feel confident of being able to sell the car knowing that its been running reliably without issue. Overall a lovely, but not a perfect car; but not at a perfect car price either. A lot of money has gone into this car so this is a very affordable great looking and running car that someone will really enjoy.

Note: this car is currently being imported but is expected before the end of March. Were not desperate to sell the car and if we have interest before it lands, were happy to sell it without registering it as this will save us a minor headache; if it sells after registration then so be it. The price were offering it at is prior to UK registration. If we MOT and register it well adjust the price accordingly but this ad is to give us the opportunity of having to look for storage if we can sell it before it arrives. If the interest comes from Europe, if we can, we are even happy to drive/deliver the vehicle (at cost) as we are that confident that this vehicle will drive anywhere.

Any interest, we will answer 1 email and then expect to be called to talk to serious buying interests. Anything that we havent put in this ad, we"ll answer any serious questions honestly and promptly. We are very busy individuals so dont worry if we dont respond immediately. Email is likely to get a quicker initial response.
One final word - this is FOR SALE and Cash only. Any correspondence of any kind that doesnt respect this simple concept will be ignored.
