Thanks to an LS1 engine swap with nitrous, the pickup puts up a respectable fight against the most powerful GM muscle car ever.The CompetitorsThis video showcases a drag race between a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the regular cab/short bed configuration and a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The Camaro is said to be stock, so it is powered by the new LT4 V8, sending 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque towards the rear wheels by means of the new 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition to being the most powerful Camaro ever, the new ZL1 is also the quickest.While the Camaro is stock, the Silverado is far from stock. Under the hood is an LS1 V8 with worked cylinder heads, an aftermarket camshaft and a 175-shot of nitrous. It also has some big, sticky tires in the back while the ZL1 appears to be riding on the stock wheels and tires.The BattleAfter quick burnouts by both high performance Chevys, the two stage and prepare for battle. When the green lights drop, the Silverado gets the better launch, hopping out to an early lead.
